Charles was born on August 12 at an unknown location and was baptized on the same day at L'Ange-Gardien.

Charles's brother, Timothee married his wife's sister, Marie Anne Amelot Sanspeur.

Charles (age 60) and his son Jacques (age 20) both died in late 1759, perhaps as a result of wounds. The British invaded and took Quebec City on September 13, 1759 and nearly a quarter of the French troops (most of whom were militia) suffered some form of injury during the siege and battle. The cause of death for both Charles and Jacques is unknown, but the timing of their deaths indicate one or both of their deaths may have been from battle wounds, although this is impossible to verify.
